Pennsy Supply Inc., southcentral Pennsylvania's leading supplier of aggregate, concrete and asphalt, is playing a key role in the construction of the highly anticipated Silver Spring Square Retail Center, located off Rt. 11 in Mechanicsburg, PA. Pennsy is supplying approximately 69,000 tons of stone base and 45,000 tons of various bituminous mixes for the stone and concrete, which will be used to pave the retail center's parking lots and connecting roadways.
Construction began on the Silver Spring Square Retail Center in January 2006, with Pennsy beginning work on the stone and paving in May 2006, supplying the stone base and bituminous mixes out of its Silver Spring Quarry. To date, Pennsy has supplied approximately 65,000 tons of stone base and 32,000 tons of bituminous mix to the project. The Silver Spring Square Retail Center will house several shops and restaurants, including Target, Wegmans, Best Buy and Chili's. Pennsy is scheduled to complete paving at the Silver Spring Retail Center by April.
"We're proud to have played a key role in such a high-profile, local project," said Barry Harbonic, vice president, Pennsy Supply Construction Group. "Construction got off to a great start and the paving has gone very smoothly and stayed on schedule. We know the community is excited for the opening of this center."
