Efforts hailed in Lebanon County, Pa.

HARRISBURG, Pa. (May 30, 2005) -      For the second consecutive year, Pennsy Supply, Inc. has been awarded a 2004 Quality in Construction Award from the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA) for its excellence in construction of a 4.3-mile stretch of highway in Lebanon County, Pa. The company received the award at the Association’s 50th Annual Convention held in Kona, Hawaii.
The Quality in Construction Awards recognizes Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) pavements of exemplary quality throughout the United States. NAPA selects the award recipients based on job formula mix, laboratory tests and pavement density that have been shown to give exceptional results. In receiving this award, President of Pennsy Supply, Randy Lake said, “This Quality in Construction award recognizes Pennsy Supply’s ongoing commitment to developing new products and innovative processes in asphalt pavement. We are very proud to have been recognized at the national level for our efforts on this project.”
Pennsy Supply was awarded the Quality in Construction Award for the milling and resurfacing of existing roadway and shoulders from Fifth Avenue in the city of Lebanon to Ramona Road in Jackson Township that called for more than 21,000 tons of various asphalt mixes. In addition to asphalt paving, the project included upgrading the existing guide rail system and drainage improvements.
Using its award-winning, high-grade asphalt mixes, Pennsy was able to meet and exceed the project’s specifications with 92 percent of the roadway pavement exceeding ride quality specifications to receive a bonus award from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
