Colored Concrete Banishes the Landscape “Blues”
Pennsy Supply launches new product line of colored concrete
HARRISBURG, Pa. (June 5, 2006) -
Pennsy Supply Inc., southcentral Pennsylvania’s leading supplier of aggregate, concrete and asphalt, recently launched a new product line of high-quality colored concrete. The new colored concrete product line blends Pennsy’s premium concrete with a first-class pigment processing system to offer customers an infinite number of colors and patterns in a top quality product.
“We’re always looking at ways we can meet our customers’ evolving needs, from the installation of a high-calcium fine grind mill to the expansion of our ready-mix concrete products and services through the acquisition of Pioneer Concrete,” said Brian Groff, director of customer support. “Whether you’re talking commercial or residential projects, unique colors, patterns and finishes in building materials are high in demand. The time was right to provide a colored concrete program that will give our customers more customized choices.”
Pennsy uses Hydrotint® Liquid Pigments by Grace Construction Products to develop its colored concrete products. The process uses a state-of-the-art automatic dosing system that combines four or five primary colors of the pigment to create a wide spectrum of colors. According to Groff, the process allows virtually endless color possibilities and patterns. Customers often can do color-matches (to existing hardscapes or other materials) as well, depending on the desired shades.
Hydrotint Liquid Pigments are made from time-tested and proven iron oxide, a colorant that has a long successful history of use in concrete, and can be added to precast, prestressed, tilt-up and a variety of other applications to create aesthetically pleasing colored concrete. The colored concrete is installed the same way as high-quality uncolored concrete. It can be used on any application where concrete is used, such as driveways, parking lots, buildings and walls, sidewalks and other walkways, pool decks, patios, fountains and counter tops.
“Reliability and versatility were key as we researched different color processes for our new product line,” said Groff. “By choosing the Hydrotint process, we are confident that customers will receive a top quality product with spectacular results.”
