Pioneer’s Specialty Concrete Keeps Revitalization Project on Tight Schedule

WILMINGTON, Del. (September 20, 2006) - Pioneer Concrete, northern Delaware’s leading ready-mix concrete producer, has been instrumental in keeping several high-profile projects on schedule for the largest revitalization development in the history of Wilmington, Del. Pioneer created a concrete that achieves required strength in 2-3 days, allowing one floor per week to be completed for the new Christiana Landing living complex. The concrete mix was used on the floorings, foundation, columns, sheer walls and floors of the building for both phases of the Christina Landing project.
     Pioneer is providing concrete for the Christiana Landing and Justinson Landing projects in support of the residential and commercial real estate revival of the Wilmington downtown and riverfront areas. The area has been known mainly as an industrial area, but once complete, the revitalized area will offer a variety of upscale condos, townhouses, lofts, retail stores and office space.
     Pioneer was awarded the 2006 Grand Prize award for Cast-In-Place Concrete Frame (Inside Chapter Boundaries) from the American Concrete Institute (ACI), Eastern Pennsylvania and Delaware Chapter for the Christiana Landing project. ACI selects award recipients based on conception, originality and application in design and education. Pioneer was recognized for its concrete design and construction for the Christina Landing project.
     Pioneer has already contributed 12,000 cubic yards of concrete for Phase 1 of the Residence at Christina Landing, a 23 story, 265,000 square foot apartment complex on the south bank of the Christina River, and is providing another 13,000 cubic yards of concrete for Phase 2, which is currently underway.
     Pioneer is also providing 4,000 cubic yards of concrete for Justinson Landing, another upscale living project on the north shore of the Christina River. When complete, Justinson Landing will consist of nearly 700 new residential units, including townhouses, condos, lofts and apartments; 75,000 square feet of retail space; 300,000 square feet of commercial space; and 12 levels of on-site garage parking.
