EDUCATIONAL
Tilcon Delaware is committed to passing on knowledge to the next generation by participating in educational events to teach students about the aggregate industry. Tilcon’s educational programs showcase the company’s environmental commitment to use renewable natural resources and promote recycling programs.
Tilcon’s educational events include:
“What in the World” Program
Tilcon Delaware has educated more than 2,000 students about the aggregate industry as part of the Science, Math and Technology alliance, a division of the “What in the World” program. The program was created to educate Delaware students, grades three through 12, about different careers choices available to them. Tilcon’s Science Alliance team visits two to four schools per month presenting interactive, hands-on presentations about hot-mix plants, labs, equipment, and stone and crushed glass. For more information about the Science Alliance, contact the Public Relations office at 302-735-9950.
Earth Day
Tilcon has been an active participant and supporter of the Delaware Solid Waste Authority’s Annual Earth Day Festival since its inception, showcasing the company’s advanced recycling program and helping to educate the community about becoming involved in protecting our natural resources and environment. More than 5,000 people annually attend the event, which features attractions such as EcoTrail, Trash Can Dan’s EcoWorld, craft projects, games, tours and exhibits.
Kids‘ Fest
Each year, Tilcon participates in
Kids’ Fest
, an annual program benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Milford.
Kids’ Fest
features a variety of events, including games, educational events, entertainment and a Healthy Kids Expo.
At
Kids’ Fest
, Tilcon sponsors a booth, where visitors can touch and explore Tilcon products such as hot-mix and sand, view pictures showing what the company does, and putt for a prize at Tilcon’s putting green with its USGA-approved sand.
